Lorri Unumb<\/strong>, is an attorney and\u00a0 the mother of a seven year old son with autism whose name is Ryan. She graduated from the\u00a0 University of South Carolina School of Law in 1993. She also attended USC\u00a0 for undergraduate work, graduating Phi Beta Kappa.\u00a0 At present, Lorri serves as senior policy advisor in council with\u00a0 the autism advocacy organization, Autism Speaks. For her work on Ryan\u2019s law, South\u00a0 Carolina\u2019s groundbreaking autism insurance mandate, Lorri won the Jefferson Award for\u00a0 public service, the Autism Speaks 2008 Advocacy award, the Autism Society of America\u2019s\u00a0 2008 parents of the year award \u2013 with her husband \u2013 the Rotary Service Above Self award, the\u00a0 Behavior Analyst\u2019s Certification Board\u2019s Hemmingway award, and the Spencer Volunteer\u00a0 award from South Carolina Protection and Advocacy for People with Disabilities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
